Discover how you can make a difference in the lives of individuals, families and communities around the world.:This is a 15-Months Contract Position.Reporting to the Director, Data Science, the Data Engineer will play an integral role in building and assembling the necessary data products to fuel a myriad of advanced analytics and business intelligence initiatives within Retail Advice & Solutions.What will you do?

• Assemble datasets to support various advanced analytics, and business intelligence initiatives within Retail Advice & Solutions
• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines
• Analyze large quantities of data, draw out business insights from analytical output, and work with team leads to put together business recommendations
• Oversee and govern the expansion of our existing data architecture
• Apply predictive and machine learning techniques on data science problems from design to implementation with minimal support
• An active contributing member to the analytics community to help foster and grow the data engineering/science community at Sun Life
• Champion and support diversity and inclusion

What do you need to succeed?

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
• 2+ years of data experience, including data modeling, extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a variety of sources
• 1+ year of experience with modern data management principles (e.g. data warehousing) and/or analytic experience (using RDBMS, dimensional, NOSQL data platform technologies, and ETL)
• 1+ year of experience with Python working with datasets
• 1+ year of experience with machine learning including supervised and unsupervised models
• Comfortable writing complex SQL queries to extract and integrate data from multiple database sources
• Demonstrated experience in data transformation & data manipulation
• Verbal and written communication skills; able to work independently and in close collaboration with technical and business teams

What will be nice to have?

• Past experience in Financial Services preferably life insurance or wealth management, or others
• Hands-on experience working on cloud platforms (AWS) with data processing and analytical tools such as Glue, SageMaker, Hive SQL, etc.

• The candidate selected for this role is required to attain Canadian Reliability Security Clearance (administered by submitting fingerprints to the RCMP, who then conduct min. 5 year history checks)
