We are now looking for a

Data Engineer

to help build and scale our data foundation for the future. This is a unique opportunity to play a hands-on role in shaping technical design and data architecture, with meaningful autonomy and influence as we continue to grow our enterprise data capabilities.

WHAT'S THE BIG IDEA?




As our

Data Engineer

, you will build and maintain the data pipelines, models, and dashboards that keep the business running on clean, trusted data. You'll use Microsoft Fabric, dbt, and Power BI to turn raw information into analytics-ready insights, while keeping data quality, governance, and reliability front and centre.





You'll partner with teams across the business to automate manual processes, eliminate data headaches, and deliver clear, business-friendly insights people actually want to use. If you enjoy clean code, smart automation, and making data work for people (not the other way around), this role will feel right at home.




KEY RESPONSIBILITIES




Data Engineering & Modeling (60%)




Design, build and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines using Microsoft Fabric. Develop and maintain medallion data layers using dbt to create clean, reliable, analytics-ready datasets. Build reverse ETL pipelines to synchronize curated data back into operational systems to ensure consistency across the business. Execute on Data Governance guidelines by creating extensive data quality tests, proactive monitoring and recovery procedures to ensure data and pipeline reliability and stakeholder trust.

Automation & Process Improvement (20%)



Partner with business teams to identify manual, error-prone or inefficient processes and design and automate data-driven solutions. Develop and maintain automation workflows that improve speed, accuracy and scalability across the organization.

Business Intelligence & Report Building (20%)




Design, build and maintain business intelligent dashboards using Power BI. Govern and manage Power BI Service environment, including workspace access, App publishing, and refresh schedules.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & SKILLS




Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline. 2 - 4 years of experience in Data Engineering, System Analysis, Database Administration, or Business Intelligence. Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python is required. Experience with dbt is highly preferred. Familiarity with the Microsoft Fabric, Azure, AWS, or other cloud compute ecosystem is an asset. Candidates must be located in Alberta or Ontario, with strong preference given to candidates located in Alberta to support in-office collaboration and team engagement.

SUCCESS FACTORS




Within your first 90 days, you are actively contributing production-grade code to the data engineering codebase, independently deploying tested dbt models and Fabric pipelines. You implement automated data tests and alerts to detect data anomalies beforethey reach business stakeholders. You identify and automate manual workflows, delivering measurable time savings and improved data reliability for business teams.
