Reporting to the Manager of Data Architecture, the Data Architect is a key contributor to the continued expansion and evolution of data storage and delivery at Eastlink. The Data Architect is primarily responsible for developing the Eastlink data foundation to align with the goal of delivering data as a service to the organization. This includes the design and build of data architectures through ETL and ELT processes from multiple source systems. They will be experienced with data warehousing best practices, familiar with cloud-based data storage, and be highly proficient in SQL and scripting language using both structured and semi-structured data sources.

Responsibilities:

• Modeling of data structures
• Mentor and educate the Business Intelligence and Data Science team on the processing model to ensure the entire team is working within a common framework
• Monitor industry and technical trends to ensure Eastlink is using appropriate and effective tools for our corporate data warehouse processing model
• Design and build data lake, data modules, and data views to ensure Eastlink\'s corporate data warehouse evolves away from silo databases and is prepared for easy accessibility
• Enhance corporate data warehouse design to ensure our core data architectures shift with the needs of the business
• Supports all Business Intelligence and Data Science data architectures and must respond with assistance for the other groups while focused on continuing to develop the elFoundation
• Design and build of database tables to support data solution requirements
• Design and build of ETL processes, including effective scheduling, error handling and archiving
• Continued maintenance and enhancement/versioning of existing data architectures
• Collaborative code reviews and validation on deliverables for the team

Experience & Qualifications:

• 3-5 years experience in Data Warehousing architecture, with knowledge of cloud-based warehousing platforms such as Snowflake
• Proficient in PowerShell, and expert SQL writer
• Experience with database tuning and performance enhancement
• Experience using API calls and processing unstructured data (JSON/XML)
• Experience with building and maintaining security roles in various systems (ADFS, SSO, Snowflake) will be considered an asset.
• Experience with project management software and methodologies (Agile, Jira, Git)
• Comfortable to work in a collaborative, agile environment
• Strong analytical skills - to identify bugs and issues quickly, understanding business requirements and translating those requirements into technical specifications
