We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Data Engineer to join our Edmonton government client on an initial 11-month contract. Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust, high-performance ETL pipelines using cloud-native tools
• Lead or collaborate on data product builds, ensuring alignment with business goals
• Integrate DevOps practices into the development workflow using CI/CD best practices
• Build and optimize data warehouses and data lakes for efficient storage and retrieval
• Ensure data security and compliance across platforms through governance and access control
• Develop dashboards and reporting solutions to provide actionable insights for decision-makers
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transform data into strategic business intelligence

Qualifications
MANDATORY:Education

• University graduation-Computing Science (CS), Information Technology (IT), Engineering (ENG), Management Information Systems (MIS) or related discipline & 6-yrs progressive related experience;
• OR 2-yr diploma-CS, IT, ENG, MIS or related discipline & 8-yrs progressive related experience;
• OR 1-yr certificate-CS, IT, ENG, MIS or related discipline & 9-yrs progressive related experience;
• OR 10-yrs progressive related experience

Work Experience3 years- Experience building high performance, scalable and robust ETL pipelines in distributed clusters
3 years - Experience in creating Microsoft-SQL database solutions.
5 years - Experience with projects that involved data science , data engineering and / or AI.
3 years - Experience integrating DevOps practices to the development workflow using CI/CD best practices
5 years - Experience using analytical and problem solving skills to plan and design creative solutions.
4 years - Experience with dimensional modeling techniques.
3 years - Experience with Python development
4 years - Experience with relational database modeling techniques.
4 years - Experience working in a data warehouse/business intelligence or relevant data environment in either a development or support role.NICE TO HAVESoft Skills

4 years - Direct, hands-on experience with design and implementation of data security, data privacy, policies, data de-identification/anonymization, data audits/reviews, synthetic data
4 years - Experience in Agile project methodology.
4 years - Experience in building analytical and quantitative analysis models.
5 years - Experience in understanding complex businesses questions and framing the right analytical question to solve a business problem.
5 years - Experience using Hadoop, Microsoft SQL and unstructured data. Must have background with unstructured data, in the form of social media, video feeds or audio.
4 years - Experience with projects spanning multiple technical environments.
4 years - Experience working across both business and technology.Summary
