Job Description

Story Behind the Need:

  • Business group: Canadian Banking Analytics - focused on targeted marketing campaign work, including building campaigns and supporting all targeted marketing initiatives within Canadian Banking. Responsibilities include pre-sizing and segmentation, post-campaign analysis (6-12 months after launch), and evaluating performance metrics such as new accounts, revenue, and transaction volume.
  • Project: Support the newly formed Credit Card and Unsecured Lending (CCUL) Engagement Squad, which focuses on engaging existing accounts (not acquisition) through initiatives such as Select Pay, balance transfers, and limit increases.
This role will:
  • Serve as the dedicated analytics resource for the squad.
  • Participate in daily standups and provide expertise on credit card data, feasibility of data points, and sizing opportunities.
  • Develop dashboards and automate processes using Excel and Power BI.
  • Explore automation opportunities and modernization initiatives (transitioning from Db2/SAS to GCP and Python).
Typical Day in Role:
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations on marketing initiatives to business line and marketing partners.
  • Analyze and synthesize large datasets to identify trends and opportunities, applying a customer-first approach to drive engagement.
  • Define and size target audience opportunities in collaboration with business and marketing teams.
  • Deliver Pre-Sizing, Segmentation, and Response Forecasting to inform campaign design and improve efficiency.
  • Optimize customer and channel allocation based on behavior, preferences, and historical performance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define KPIs and benchmarks, and create reporting to track campaign performance.
  • Conduct Pre- and Post-Campaign Deep Dives, analyzing beyond offer acceptance to assess utilization, stickiness, cost of acquisition, and revenue impact.
  • Present insights and recommendations to stakeholders, maintaining strong communication and alignment.
  • Work in agile squads alongside marketing, execution, and business lines to identify new opportunities for improved customer experiences.
  • Explore and profile data sources, analyze backend data critically, and derive meaningful insights.
  • Perform SQL coding and data manipulation as needed.
  • Support automation and dashboard development using Power BI and Excel.
  • Participate in modernization initiatives, including migration to GCP and Python-based analytics.

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
  • 8+ years of experience in Data Analysis
  • 8+ years' experience working with large data sets and relational databases with advanced SQL skills
  • 5+ years' experience with both these analytical tools: SAS, Power BI
Nice-To-Have Skills:
  • Familiarity with banking products
  • Experience with Python
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with targeted leads/campaign execution and segmentation
Soft Skills Required:
  • Strong Communication and collaboration skills
  • Self-motivated, strong quantitative skills, attention to detail, a high aptitude for problem solving and a natural interest in understanding customer behavior
  • Analytical mindset
Education:
  • Analytical background with a quantitative focus, such as statistics, applied mathematics, economics, computer science
