. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
Reporting to the Principal Investigator.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
(job functions include but are not limited to):
Project Management
Support the coordination and organization of multiple research project timelines, deliverables, and milestones
Collaborate with the Principal Investigator to develop study protocols and statistical analysis plans
Develop and implement statistical analysis plans and conduct complex analyses using appropriate methodologies and advanced techniques
Provide statistical support and consultation to research team members and students
Coordinating various aspects of data management, and analysis
Apply appropriate statistical methods and conduct statistical analyses using R and/or Stata statistical software
Responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and quality of the data throughout all phases of the research process in data cleaning and management of large datasets
Provide training in analytic procedures to students and other research team members and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders as needed
Continued learning and development of study designs and statistical methodologies
Participate in regular team meetings and present analytical findings as needed
Research Study Administration
Contributes to study administration and conference presentations
Ensure research activities comply with ethical standards, IRB requirements, and institutional policies
Develop and maintain documentation for data processing and analysis procedures
Assist in the preparation of peer-reviewed manuscripts, research reports, grant applications, and conference abstracts
Qualifications / Requirements:
MSc degree in biostatistics or a related field is required
Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in a relevant research area
Extensive demonstrable knowledge of statistical theory and practical experience in advanced statistical modelling
Experience with analysis of large administrative healthcare data sets, including data cleaning and probabilistic linkage of diverse data sets
Experience with drafting scientific manuscripts or reports
Experience with data assets in Emergency Medicine (e.g., NACRS database)
Experience with University of Calgary cluster computing assets (ARC and MARC) is considered an asset
Experience working in non-University of Calgary secure research environments (ex. ICES DAS, CPCSSN SRE, StatsCan SRE, PopDataBC SRE) is considered an asset
Demonstrated leadership, organization, problem solving, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills
Advanced skills in statistical software (R and Stata are required)
Knowledge of University core business systems is desirable
