Position: Data Analyst

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Engineer, Project Services in ATCO\'s Gas & Pipelines division, the Data Analyst is pivotal in leveraging data and analytics to benefit engineering and construction projects. This role focuses on working closely with other engineering departments to understand trends, business strategy, processes, services, performance metrics, and the business\'s context.

The Data Analyst role is instrumental in the scope of project governance, helping develop essential project metrics, promoting data governance practices, and suggesting recommendations for optimal data collection strategies.

This role will provide the leadership team with focused, timely assessments and recommended actions to increase the strategic impact/overall benefits. The incumbent will provide advice through data modeling and develop and implement lasting organizational improvements. This position requires collaboration with internal workgroups to understand best how each team tracks, uses, and reports data.

What You Get to Do:

  • Provide technical expertise in data storage structures, data mining, and data cleansing.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze data from various sources to identify trends and insights.
  • Support digitization, automation, and simplification of data processes with technology.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, perform analysis as required, and communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Make decisions or recommendations about business processes promptly, ensuring alignment with business strategy and objectives.
  • Work closely with leadership teams to create data strategies that support data modeling.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business problems and recommend data-driven solutions.
  • Identify and address data-related issues or discrepancies to optimize data usage.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a post-secondary degree in Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Business, Science, or Economics.
  • Must have 3+ years of demonstrated experience in data & analytics, data transformation & manipulation.
  • Must have demonstrated experience in implementing relational data models and insightful reporting.
  • Must be proficient in Power BI (advanced DAX, M language), SQL, and Excel.
  • Proficient in creating interactive Power BI dashboards with custom visuals, drill-through capabilities, and adding bookmarks for insightful data representation.
  • Strong grasp of data modeling concepts, an expert in shaping and transforming raw data using Power Query and dataflow.
  • Experience integrating Power BI with multiple data sources, including SharePoint folders, APIs, and databases.
  • Experience working with engineering/technical teams will be considered an asset.
  • PMP certification will be considered an asset.
  • Experience with Cloud technologies, Data Flows, and Data Lakes will be considered an asset.
  • Strong communications skills and the ability to communicate complex issues to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, and meeting facilitation skills.
  • Exceptional customer relations skills and proven ability to establish effective partnerships.
  • Ability to effectively build relationships and influence others.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
