North One is looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join our high performing team on a contract basis. We are a remote-first, venture-backed startup at the heart of the FinTech movement and we're reshaping financial services and banking for small businesses across America. We are backed by some of the best VCs in the world and are solving important problems.

We ? our Data. As our Senior Data Analyst you'll work with our world-class Engineering team. Reporting to our Head of Data, you'll be joining a team who have helped build companies like Chime, Twitter, Instacart, E-Trade, McKinsey, Etsy, eBay and more.

RESPONSIBILITIES





Some of what you'll be doing



Build & Maintain Data Pipelines:

Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines using

DBT

,

Fivetran

, and

Snowflake

. You'll be responsible for the ELT process, from ingestion with tools like Segment and Fivetran to transformation and modeling.

Ensure Data Integrity:

Proactively monitor our data stack, debug pipeline failures, and troubleshoot data quality issues. You'll implement data quality tests and anomaly detection to ensure the accuracy and reliability of our data.

Data Modeling & Warehousing:

Apply data modeling best practices to structure data in Snowflake, creating clean, well-documented, and performant data models that are easy for stakeholders to use.

Empower Stakeholders:

Collaborate with analysts, product managers, and other business stakeholders to understand their data needs. You will write high quality

SQL

queries to provide them with the data and insights required for their analysis and reporting in tools like Metabase and Mixpanel.

Optimize & Improve:

Continuously work to improve the performance and efficiency of our data infrastructure. This includes optimizing queries, refactoring DBT models, and improving pipeline run times.

Documentation:

Create and maintain clear documentation for our data models, pipelines, and internal processes to support data governance and knowledge sharing across the team.

REQUIREMENTS



The skills required for this role



SQL Proficiency:

You have strong command of

SQL

and can write complex, efficient queries. You understand window functions, CTEs, and query optimization.

Python Experience:

You are proficient in

Python

for data manipulation (using libraries like Pandas) and scripting for data-related tasks.

Data Warehousing Knowledge:

You have hands-on experience with a modern cloud data warehouse, such as

Redshift

and

Snowflake

.

ETL/ELT/Reverse ETL Understanding:

You have a solid grasp of data engineering principles, including ETL/ELT/Reverse ETL processes and data pipeline architecture.

Problem-Solving Mindset:

You are a natural troubleshooter who enjoys digging into complex data issues to find the root cause and implement a solution.

Bonus points



DBT Experience:

Direct experience building and managing data transformation pipelines with

DBT

is a huge plus.

Familiarity with Our Stack:

Experience with any of our other data tools is highly desirable:

Fivetran

,

Segment

,

Metabase

,

Mixpanel

, or

Google Analytics

.

Data Modeling:

A solid understanding of data modeling techniques (e.g., Kimball, Inmon) and their practical application.

Software Engineering Best Practices:

Familiarity with version control (e.g. Git) and CI/CD concepts.

Communication Skills:

You can clearly explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Compensation:

Market range for this role at North One is $65/hr.

Contract details:

This is a contractor role expected to last roughly 7 months, with the potential to extend based on business needs and performance.

Contract start date:

Early November
