Position Overview

The Department of Surgery in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Data Administrator. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

Reporting to the Principal Investigator and ultimately be accountable to the Orthopaedic Trauma Research Scientific Director.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Organizing and maintaining study documents
  • Determines data quality/integrity of assigned work by reviewing the data captured for accuracy and completeness
  • General research team and research project administrative tasks as required
  • Ensuring that records (paper and electronic) are complete by conducting routine data queries
  • Inputting and cleaning research data using internal and external databases
  • Ensures that work assigned is completed as required
  • Ensure that primary purposes of the position are being fulfilled as required
  • Ensures that immediate supervisor is kept informed of activities and progress of work. Share knowledge and expertise to improve team work
  • Keep up-to-date with advances in field data administration
Qualifications / Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in related field required
  • Advanced knowledge of REDCap
  • Designing and building custom surveys and databases
  • Exporting data to Excel, PDF, SAS, Stata, R and/or SPSS as required
  • Creating custom queries
  • Research administrative experience
  • Accuracy and attention to detail is crucial, and ability to spot errors and inconsistencies with supporting colleagues and managing data
  • Proficiency in a Windows environment: Knowledge of MS office Suite
  • Working knowledge and understanding of basic statistics
  • Ability to interpret/explain results from data analyses in the context of the research project
  • Ability to manage and determine priorities
  • Strong analytical reasoning skills and decision making skills are essential
