Job Overview

Armour Heights Community Centre Children's Committee is looking for a dance instructor for 2 parent and child classes. Classes will be held on Tuesday mornings beginning in September. Ages of children will be 4 months to 3 years. This recreational program is aimed at engaging parents/ caregivers and their child in an upbeat creative movement program.

As an independent contractor, your schedule will follow the school year calendar, from September to December break and from January to June.

Instructor Responsibilities:

Prepare a curriculum for a parent and tot class that incorporates dance, suitable music and community centre equipment including mats, instruments, balls, ribbons etc.

Instruct an energetic, fun developmentally appropriate class.

Encourage participation of both adults and children and effectively manage classroom behaviour.

Ensure safety of participants.

Skills

Training in dance and creative movement Experience leading classes for parents/ toddlers in a recreational setting Knowledge of child development principles Experience as a children's dance instructor is an asset Excellent communication skills Ability to create lesson plans Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm

Salary

$50 and

up

depending on experience

Armour Heights Community Centre Children's Committee has been offering a wide variety of recreation based classes to children from infancy to teens for the past 40 years.
