We are currently recruiting for a: Dairy Barn Worker Located in Wainwright, Alberta; this full-time permanent position you will be responsible for all shift activities including the preparation of milking equipment, milking of cows, minor equipment maintenance, and general cleaning. This role is also accountable for following all standard operating procedures (SOPs) in addition to general animal care and well-being. Start Date: As soon as possible WAGE Competitive wage based on industry standards - starting wage is $16.00 per hour or more base on experience. Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote Greenbelt Farms\xe2\x80\x99 vision and mission.
  • Prepare milking parlour, equipment, and bulk tank for milk harvesting.
  • Transfer cows in and out of the parlour.
  • Conduct milking procedures.
  • Conduct California mastitis tests (CMT), maintain treatment records, and flag cows with appropriate ribbons accordingly.
  • Submit samples for somatic cell count.
  • Complete all parlour treatments including Intramammary (IMM) drug as communicated on the treatment board.
  • Report relevant information on animal health such as illness, injury, heat detection, and other abnormalities to the Dairy Herdsperson.
  • Sample milk when abnormalities are identified or as instructed by Dairy Barn Management.
  • Conduct testing to ensure milk tank is free of antibiotics and report any abnormalities to the Dairy Barn Team Leader immediately.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment and facilities (office, change rooms, milk house, mechanical room, and med room) including floors, doors, mats, and bedding.
  • Complete barn chores as communicated on daily checklist.
  • Ensure timely requests for chemicals, medications, and supplies are provided to the Dairy Supervisor.
  • Attend to equipment inspection, maintenance, and minor repairs.
  • Feed animals in the medical room.
  • Bed Dairy Barn.
  • Assist in the Calf Barn as requested; may including feeding, cleaning, calving, and general animal care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dairy Barn Team Leader.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of cows including proper handling and care considered an asset
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Superior organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
Qualifications:
  • Previous dairy barn experience is considered an asset.
  • Education in agriculture is considered an asset.
  • Willingness to work a rotating shift of early mornings, afternoons, and evenings.
