Job Description

The Adult and Youth Enrichment Center provides quality services to youths and adolescents from age 10-17 years, struggling with (either/or/combined) mental health/addictions/behavioural/developmental disabilities. The positions available are within our Residential staffed homes. We provide a safe environment, a structured day and a consistent schedule. The successful candidate will be a strong, interpersonal, dedicated individual who enjoys working with youth. The successful candidate must have experience with behaviours and difusing situations, knowledge of Indigenous customs, culture, and both personal and generational trauma. Our goal is to encourage each individual to reach their full potential and be successful in everyday life. These positions are open to graduates of CYW, DSW, SSW, Psychology, Mental Health and Addictions, as well as university students of Psychology, Social Work and Behaviour Therapy.

Job Duties and Responsibilities, including, but not limited to:



- Working within a Residential Setting with youth and adolescents with mental health/behavioural/addictions struggles
- Working with 1:1 youth, encouraging good choices, school attendance, good hygiene, etc.
- Encourage participation in programs, wellness, repairing family relationships, and goal setting
- Administer medications as prescribed by physicians
- Complete daily tasks and activities of living
- Liaise with community partners and medical professionals
- Manage behaviours, engage in emotional validation and diffuse situations as needed
- Follow protocols created by the AYEC as well as clinicians
- Provide a safe and caring environment
- Accompany on outings
- Daily, weekly, monthly documentation
- Report to Residential Manager, Residential Coordinator

Requirements:



- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check, current
- First Aid and CPR
- Valid G Drivers License

Minimum of 2 year diploma CYW, SSW, Degree in Psychology, Social Work Open to University students of Psychology, Social Work, Behaviour Therapy Experience with behaviours is essential Experience/knowledge of Indigenous Persons an asset Flexibility with availability for shift work French an asset*
