General Purpose



The Centre for Biodiversity Genomics (CBG), located at the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, is a world-renowned research center dedicated to advancing our understanding of biodiversity through DNA analysis. Home to the largest DNA reference library in the world, CBG focuses on developing and applying DNA-based tools for species identification, classification, and conservation, with significant implications for biodiversity monitoring, food safety, and human health. Join our team of scientists, technologists, AI experts, and students united by a shared commitment to accelerate DNA-based species identification to serve the global biodiversity science community.

We are looking for an experienced Cyber Security Manager to lead efforts in securing our web platform and digital services, managing risk, and ensuring compliance with security best practices in a dynamic research environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and implement cybersecurity policies and procedures to protect CBG's data assets and infrastructure. Oversee the configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of network, system, and application security controls. Assist with the maintenance of IT infrastructure, including hardware troubleshooting and updates, ensuring continuity of operations. Lead risk assessments and security audits to evaluate vulnerabilities and develop mitigative measures. Respond to and manage cybersecurity incidents, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders. Collaborate with IT and software teams to secure CBG's digital assets, including sensitive biodiversity data. Ensure compliance with institutional, provincial, and federal cybersecurity standards and regulations. Conduct cybersecurity awareness and IT best practices training for CBG staff to foster a proactive security and operational culture.

Requirements

An undergraduate degree in computer science, cybersecurity, information technology, or a related field. At least 4 years of previous experience.
