Job Description


The Saskatchewan Liquor & Gaming Authority is seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented individual to provide support as a Customs and Logistics Specialist within the Supply Chains and Distribution Branch.This position is required to work on-site.The Customs and Logistics Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all import and export activities comply with international customs regulations and laws. This role involves classifying and valuing goods, preparing and submitting necessary documentation, and maintaining accurate records. The incumbent will collaborate closely with government agencies, internal stakeholders, and SLGA Customs Broker to resolve any customs-related issues and ensure smooth and efficient cross-border transactions.Competencies (Job Family Technical)

Primary Responsibilities
  • Complete payment and reporting requirements to Federal agencies such as the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for Federal Excise Tax and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) for customs duties to maintain SLGAs compliance with their policies and procedures.
  • Process month-end reports, customs clearing documents, and interception documents promptly to ensure compliance with CBSA, CRA and Customs Broker.
  • Monitor Customs emails and phone calls, ensuring to provide customer service promptly.
  • Prepare Duty-Free documents and appropriate paperwork associated with the customs requirements.
  • Stay informed of the best practices to provide expert opinions and recommendations for management on system changes that may affect or impact the customs and Federal Excise Tax areas. Recommendations are not limited to how ELITE will impact the flow of information between CRA, CBSA or Customs Broker.
  • Process and reconcile supplier chargebacks, transportation claims, freight claims, and freight tracking documents as needed promptly.
  • Calculate fees and processing payments associated with customs importations.
  • Complete the reporting requirements and retire the liabilities for custom and excise payments.
  • Perform an analysis of accounts and ensure that they are reconciled accurately by adjusting entries to correct variances.
  • Assist Product Buyers as needed with daily tasks to ensure the procurement processes are optimized for efficiency for the Inbound Logistics team.
  • Provide training and support to internal teams on customs compliance and procedures.
Required Technical Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications
  • The incumbent will typically possess a degree or diploma specializing in Business Administration, or equivalent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills coupled with outstanding issue management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of accounting and financial acts, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, standards and/or procedures including management and financial accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of applicable computer hardware and software applications such as Excel, Word, and Office and the warehouse management system.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding payments to ensure the funds are only used to complete the payment as instructed by the payer.
  • Ability to operate a variety of office equipment according to procedures.
  • Ability to accurately collect, verify, record, and reconcile records in accordance with guidelines while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ability to input, edit, update, retrieve, merge, maintain, format, and transmit data utilizing word processing, database, spreadsheet, communications and other software packages with speed and accuracy.
  • Ability to create and generate queries, reports, and documents utilizing word processing, database, spreadsheet, communication, and other software packages with speed and accuracy.
  • Ability to accurately perform complex mathematical calculations to compute and balance financial and/or statistical information.
  • Ability to multitask and work with various distractions while maintaining accuracy.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve within the scope of this job
Physical Requirement Ability to be able to push, pull, lift, and carry weights up to 23 kg (51 pounds).Working Conditions
Most of the duties will be carried out in an office environment from a desk with occasional requirements to be in the warehouse environment. As a Customs and Logistics Specialist, you may occasionally encounter customers who are upset. Its important to address their concerns promptly and ensure a positive resolution. The incumbent should maintain a safety-focused attitude, prioritizing the safety of yourself and others while interacting with irate customers.The Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to minimize exposure to hazards that may cause serious workplace injuries are safety vests and steel-toe boots.The hours of operation for the warehouse are 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and the days of operation are from Monday to Friday with a scheduled day off every second week excluding statutory holidays such as New Years Day, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Remembrance Day and Christmas Day.This position may be required to adjust their working hours to meet job demands.What We Offer
