POSITION OVERVIEW

Designs vendor-certified, ,cost-effective based network and premise-based solutions that integrate a variety of voice, data, video, wireless, IP and IT products, services and applications for business customers. Supports Business Sales in the promotion and sale of complex products and services. Consults and educates on current new, and emerging products, services, and applications. Partners wiPresents recommendations to internal and external customers pertaining to the selection, design, optimization, functionality and cost of specific and integrated network and premise-based solutions. Influences product, service and application development. Provides leadership in the development of training plans and workload management. TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Obtains and maintains industry and vendor certifications required to meet distributorship obligations.
  • Identifies Analyzes customers’ information technology and current and future business needs, analyzes solutions and makes recommendations.
  • Designs cost effective, innovative, evolvable solutions that integrate standard and customized voice, data, wireless, video, IP and IT products, services and applications into an enterprise-wide solution. Optimizes existing customer networks, systems and applications that meet the customer’s requirements and advance the customer’s business.
  • Provides pre-sales, design and general technical consulting and mentorship to all Business customer segments (within and outside of Saskatchewan) and to SaskTel sales teams, support groups, and operations personnel. This includes project management, training, presentations, trials and pilots. Utilizes vendor personnel and advises other customer and Telco design groups.
  • Develops and documents network and application designs and design processes for consistent delivery of quality, cost-effective designs.
  • Provides leadership and represents customer interests in the development and deployment of new products and services; may support the implementation of these. Identifies and recommends enhancements to new and existing products, services, systems and applications.
  • Researches evolving and emerging communication technologies to maintain technical expertise and maintains a working knowledge of all business telecommunications solutions.
  • Recommends training plans and assists with workload distribution.
  • Participates on committees, subgroups, and working groups as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical Institute Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology OR Computer Engineering Technology as recognized by Saskatchewan Applied Science Technologists and Technicians (SASTT).
  • Successful completion and current standing of advanced vendor certification(s) in:
    a. Cisco
    b. Avaya
    c. Mitel
    d. Other as specified
  • Thorough knowledge of the design requirements for business networks and/or applications gained through five years of experience including two years of network or application design associated with:
    a. Data and IP networking technologies including computer and server configurations
    b. IP telephony and internetworking including associated hardware equipment and software applications
    c. Cellular voice/data and trunked radio communications including satellite-based networks, hardware and applications
  • Thorough knowledge of current and emerging voice, data, wireless, video, IP and IT equipment and technologies including capabilities, features, limitations and typical applications.
  • Thorough knowledge of applications, tools, processes and vendor methodology used in the design and costing of networks and applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with others.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Excellent analytical and decision making skills.
  • Working knowledge of business concepts and marketing principles.
  • Ability to plan and organize in a self directed environment.
  • Ability to train, lead and direct others.
