Job Overview

The Church Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all church members, visitors, and staff. This role includes a variety of custodial tasks, facility maintenance, and occasional assistance with events and programs and reports to the pastor.

Key Responsibilities

Cleaning and Maintenance:

Perform routine cleaning of church facilities, including worship areas, offices, restrooms, kitchens, and community rooms.

Ensure all areas are sanitized and presentable for services and events.

Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and remove trash as needed.

Maintain cleanliness of church grounds, including outdoor areas (e.g., parking lots, sidewalks, gardens).

Inventory and Supplies Management:

Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, hall stock, and equipment.

Request supplies as necessary and ensure storage areas are organized.

Building Maintenance:

Recognize any maintenance issues or repairs needed

Assist with minor repairs and maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs, fixing plumbing issues, and performing basic landscaping.

Safety and Security:

Ensure that all safety protocols are followed, including fire safety and sanitation guidelines.

Locking up to ensure proper security of the facility during and after events.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Previous custodial or maintenance experience is a plus.

Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical tasks.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and unsupervised.

Good communication skills and a friendly demeanor with knowledge and respect of the faith

Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for church events.

Pay: $19.67-$26.61 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
