Job Description


Kipnik is seeking a Temporary Custodian position. If you are committed and collaborative professional looking to contribute to a hard-working, innovative team, this opportunity is for you. The Custodian position is in Inuvik, NT and typically reports directly to the Site Manager. The Custodians primary focus is to perform general duties including but not limited to cleaning in all living and common areas, scrubbing, mopping, sweeping and vacuuming floors, and cleaning, servicing and supplying restrooms, dusting; emptying waste containers /disposing of garbage, laundry, responding to unexpected events under the direction of the Site Manager. Kipnik offers a competitive wage. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to ensure health and safety of self and others, and to prevent damage to buildings/fixtures.
  • Prepare all bedrooms for occupancy.
  • Respond to site preservation emergencies and environmental emergencies.
  • This position will be required to travel to a remote northern location and subject to inclement weather conditions. Work will take place both indoors and outdoors, at times be physically demanding.
  • Keep workspaces and general areas clean, orderly and hazard free; wear personal protective equipment.
  • Prepare personal timesheets.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 1-3 years of custodian experience in a janitorial industry, camp environment is an asset. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS High school Diploma or equivalent SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS Proficient knowledge and understanding of:
  • Willing and able to travel;
  • Standard First Aid trained with CPR Level A (asset)
  • Security clearance requirements \xe2\x80\x93 Criminal Record Check
  • License requirements class 5
  • Excellent written and verbal skills (English)
