Calgary's science centre is a pioneer in science entertainment and programming, with roots dating back to 1967. Home to one of Western Canada's largest dome theatre, the Digital Immersion Gallery, VR experiences, and innovative spaces like Steven's Lab, where interactive experiments unfold before your eyes. From the robot-dog Flint to Canada's first robot-coa5ter, R05iE, and a 15-acre park surrounding the science of the developing brain, Spark is a hub for creative encounters.

Position Overview

TELUS Spark is currently recruiting for part-time Custodians. The Custodial team is accountable for ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the building; this includes performing janitorial work in the building, providing customer service, and being a brand ambassador for Spark.

The successful candidate's schedule will be Friday through Tuesday. 4-week rotating schedule, 7am-3pm for 4 weeks, then 1pm-9pm for 4 weeks.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate and contribute with the collective effort of proving great customer service and a welcoming atmosphere to our guests.

Maintaining building and property in clean and orderly condition.

Follow procedures for using equipment within a safe manner.

Assist with setup and removal of events when required.

Model high performance, flexibility and kindness in a rapidly changing growth environment.

Other duties as required and assigned.

Mix cleaning solutions and chemicals in preparation for cleaning within WHIMS guidelines.

Develop positive working relationships with colleagues and other staff in Spark.

Proactively identify needs or issues that are or will impact guests and act accordingly.

Protect employees and customers by providing a safe and clean environment.

Ensure all elements of the guest journey is held to the highest standard.

Ensure personal and team activities are aligned with the business and strategic goals of Spark as a whole.

Qualifications & Knowledge

1-2 years of related experience in commercial cleaning.

Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures.

Experienced using floor scrubbers and other cleaning equipment.

Good verbal communication skills, able to listen and easily understand guests' requests.

Availability flexibility, occasionally working as late as 12:00 am

, within a week's notice.

Access to a vehicle is ideal for this position as public transit is limited in the area.

Ability to answer and address customer questions and concerns in a manner that benefits both the guest and the organization.

Ability to stand, bend, and walk for prolonged periods as well as able to lift and push up to 25kg.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Ability to work from ladders.

Hourly Rate Range:

$16.95 - $19.72
