The Police Services division is currently recruiting for up to six auxiliary Custodial (Cell) Guard to join our team within the Coquitlam RCMP Detachment. In this position, you will work 12 hour shifts (7am-7pm and 7pm-7am) and will be responsible for the safekeeping of prisoners as well as maintaining the security of the jail cell area.

The successful candidate will maintain surveillance over prisoners\xe2\x80\x99 physical condition, visually and through the use of closed circuit TV, to ensure their security and welfare. Other duties include booking and searching/inspecting prisoners, as well as preparing and serving meals to prisoners and completing light janitorial and maintenance tasks within the jail cell area.

The successful candidate will have completed Grade 12, supplemented by related training and experience, including valid first aid and CPR certification. Other requirements include strong interpersonal and organizational skills, the ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with all levels of internal and external contacts, the ability to create and maintain accurate and detailed records, as well as being comfortable using various RCMP computer applications. Applicants under consideration must also be able to obtain and maintain an Enhanced RCMP Security Clearance.

A CUPE hourly rate of $27.98 - $30.29 plus a percentage in lieu of benefits is being offered. The City has a vaccination policy that is currently suspended. However, should the policy be reinstated, it will be a requirement for all current and future employees.
