Job Description


Reporting to the Executive Director, the Curator is responsible for managing the Curatorial Program. Leading two fulltime positions, Assistant Curator and Registrar/ Preparator, the Curator works collaboratively to develop exhibitions, to develop the Permanent Collection, and to develop engaging exhibition related programs.
With expertise in curatorial practice, contemporary art and community engagement, the Curator takes the lead in building strong relationships with artists, collectors, and patrons. The Curator is active in the administration of all aspects of the curatorial program, including grant writing. In the absence of the Executive Director, the Curator will take on responsibilities related to the management of the Gallery contributing to its smooth day-to-day operation.

Responsibilities:
Developing and managing the Gallery\xe2\x80\x99s program of exhibitions.
Developing, organizing, and evaluating exhibitions and collections within the framework of Two Rivers Gallery\xe2\x80\x99s mandate and strategic plan.
Managing the Assistant Curator and the Registrar/ Preparator positions, including annual performance reviews and directing seasonal or project personnel.
Establishing and managing exhibitions & collections budgets.
In collaboration with the Executive Director and Learning and Engagement (L & E) staff, researching and preparing funding applications, sponsorship proposals and related reports that pertain to the development and funding of exhibitions and collections activities.
Collaborating on the promotion of exhibitions and related programs.
Developing exhibition catalogues in service of exhibitions when relevant.
Actively building relationships with community groups and individuals in an effort to further audience development.
Working collaboratively with the L & E team in the development and delivery of diverse and inclusive programmatic content related to exhibitions.
Overseeing the Registrar/ Preparator in approving and coordinating outgoing and incoming loans, keeping accurate records of accessions and deaccessions, and making recommendations for conservation measures.
Overseeing the Assistant Curator in developing and coordinating Galleria and Regional exhibitions.
Responsible for the Two Rivers Gallery Permanent Collection as a public trust.
In cooperation with the Collections Committee, acquiring works for the permanent collection according to Collections policy.
Regularly reviewing and revising the Collections policy.
Conducting Studio visits and connecting with artist\xe2\x80\x99s groups as required.
Acting in the position of the Executive Director when requested.
Other duties as required.

Requirements: Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Art History, Curatorial Studies or equivalent experience.
4 Years of curatorial or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility.
History of success with grant applications and/or private / corporate sponsorship.
Abilities:
An inclusive leader receptive to diverse viewpoints.
Intellectual curiosity and motivation to work across the arts, engaging a variety of cultural perspectives with an innovative approach.
Demonstrated experience in the development, production and presentation of relevant contemporary art exhibitions.
Knowledge of the history, theory, and practice of curatorship.
Understanding of Indigenous Ways of Knowing.
Able to manage multiple projects.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written.

Additional Info: Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $67,000 - $77,000. Comprehensive benefits, retirement savings, and professional development opportunities available.
