Inpatient Medicine is located on the top floor of the hospital (3rd floor) - Pods C and D. These units are often referred to as Pod C3 and D3. Most patients on this unit are admitted from the Emergency Department while others are transferred from the Critical Care Unit or Surgical Unit. Patients are admitted to Inpatient Medicine for treatment and/or monitoring of a medical condition and can expect a stay of 1 - 5 days.
QUALIFICATIONS
Certification/Experience/Knowledge:
Current Certificate of Registration ~ College of Nurses of Ontario required
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) Certificate required (recent within the last twelve months)
Two (2) to three (3) years medical clinical experience in an acute care setting required
Certified in Medication Administration required with related experience required
Recent experience with Dementia Care (within last 2 years) is an asset
CADD Pump training, IV maintenance required, including enteral feed and trach care
Skills/Abilities:
Satisfactory level of interpersonal skills required
Satisfactory level of written and verbal communication skills required
Ability to effectively provide health teaching to individuals and groups required
Ability to work as a collaborative member of the health team required
Ability to assume responsibility for patient care in a total patient care climate required, including wound & palliative care
Ability to work with minimal supervision required
Must be available for scheduled shifts and call-ins
Ability to meet the physical demands required to provide nursing care to medical patients required
Basic computer knowledge is an asset
Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors
Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization
Good attendance and work record required
