Job Summary
The employee will assist in analyzing and interpreting experiment results or research data by performing tasks such as, assembly, compilation and summary of statistical and other data. Standard techniques and protocols will be used to performs technical tasks.

Organizational Status
The position reports to Dr Suzanne Simard, professor in the Faculty of Forestry. The employee will also work with Jean Roach and Suzanne Simard in preparation of the manuscripts.

Work Performed

  • Gather and compile data from various sources.
  • Assist in data cleaning and identification by performing standard techniques.
  • Address any discrepancies in data or analysis and resolve as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports and manuscripts.
Consequence of Error/Judgement
The employee will need to choose the most appropriate technique for the analysis and write the \'R\' code. The employee is expected to make decisions when \'cleaning\' the data, e.g., deciding if outliers or poorly replicated data should be omitted. These decisions will be checked by Suzanne Simard. Jean Roach and Suzanne Simard will check that the data is correctly interpreted when the manuscripts are prepared. The manuscripts will be peer-reviewed when submitted to the journals. The consequences of inappropriate judgement are incorrect interpretation of the results.

Supervision Received
Suzanne Simard is the supervisor of the data analysis and will ensure that appropriate analysis methods are used. Suzanne Simard and Jean Roach will supervise preparation of the manuscripts, by ensuring that data analysis results are properly interpreted, and by editing the manuscript.

Supervision Given
The position does not require supervision of others.

Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation and a minimum one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor\'s degree in Forestry and 6 months experience conducting data analysis in \'R\'. The employee must also have experience in collecting regeneration and carbon stock data for the Mother Tree Project so that they have an understanding of the data collection methodology and any limitations of the data. Experience in preparing scientific manuscripts.
