Position Summary
The Culinary Production Manager will play a central role in bridging culinary expertise with production execution. This individual will oversee and elevate our cooking capabilities while contributing to new product development (dips, dressings, meal kits, snack packs) and broader operational improvements. They will lead teams on the production floor, collaborate with customers on product expectations, manage cost structures, and support innovation and growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Oversee daily production of cooked products, dips, and dressings, ensuring consistency, quality, and food safety.
Manage and mentor culinary and production teams, fostering a culture of efficiency, accountability, and collaboration.
Monitor ingredient usage, yields, and waste, implementing cost-control strategies without compromising quality.
Work closely with QA and Food Safety to maintain and exceed regulatory and SQF standards.
Culinary & Product Development
Collaborate with the New Product Development Chef and other team members to develop, test, and scale new recipes for cooked products, dips, dressings, and other fresh-cut products.
Partner with R&D, procurement, and operations to ensure recipes are commercially viable and scalable.
Stay ahead of culinary trends and bring creative ideas for new customer offerings.
Customer & Business Partnership
Collaborate with sales and account management teams to understand customer requirements and translate them into products and processes.
Participate in customer presentations, tastings, and product development sessions.
Act as a subject-matter expert with retail and food service partners, representing the culinary perspective.
Cost & Process Management
Track and analyze food, labor, and overhead costs; identify opportunities for improvement.
Support continuous improvement projects, equipment integration, and process optimization.
Contribute to forecasting and planning for production volumes and seasonal product lines.
Qualifications
Culinary Red Seal Certification or equivalent culinary management training is preferred.
Minimum 5-7 years of progressive culinary or food production leadership experience (ideally in large-scale food processing, commissary, or central kitchen environment).
Strong knowledge of cooked goods, salad, dip, and dressing production processes.
Proven ability to lead and motivate diverse teams in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in cost control, yield management, and scaling recipes to commercial production.
Excellent communication skills and comfort working directly with customers and internal stakeholders.
Familiarity with food safety systems (SQF, HACCP, CFIA) and high-care environments.
