Position: Culinary Line Cook - Full Time
Shift: 6:30AM-3:00PM & 7:30AM-4:30PM (rotating every 3 weeks)
Days of work: Monday - Friday
A Line Cook will work in our Market Cafe, at Longo's Support Centre which caters to Team Members at the Support Centre, Distribution Centre, and Central Kitchen. As a Line Cook, you will prepare and cook daily breakfast and lunch menu offerings as well as weekly dinner features for internal team members. You will also play an important role in preparing catering orders to support internal meetings and events.
What you'll do:
Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers visiting the Market Cafe by acknowledging them immediately, ensuring all areas are clean at all times, products are stocked and daily menus and catering orders are ready on time
Provide food recommendations for customers and product information such as ingredients, nutrition, value, storage, cooking etc
Plan & Prepare weekly menus with the Market Cafe Team Lead
Prepare & Cook daily breakfast and lunch menus
Prepare, Cook & Deliver Catering orders
Set-up the Market Cafe (product presentation, stocking, displays, signage, and rotation)
Check dates and remove substandard products immediately from coolers/ counters/shelves
Prepare required product in keeping with department standards and production needs
o Adhere to Longo's dress code and appearance guidelines that are also in keeping with food safety standards
What we are looking for:
High School Diploma
- Available to work Monday - Friday, during the day
Strong customer service skills
Strong initiative, excellent work ethic and sense of urgency
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to adapt quickly to new situations/priorities, as well as new and changing processes, programs and services
Reliable
Team Player
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Work Environment:
Kitchen working with different foods at varying temperatures
Cooking near hot stoves/loading and unloading in fridge/freezer environment
Fast paced, customer service focused, high pressure situations with tight deadlines
