Job Description

Work at CBC/Radio-Canada

At CBC/Radio-Canada, we create content that informs, entertains and connects Canadians on multiple platforms. Our successes and accomplishments are driven by embodying and upholding values, which include creativity, integrity, inclusiveness and relevance.

Do you think you have the ability and drive to keep up with this exciting, ever-changing industry? Whether it be in front of the camera, on air, online or behind the scenes, you would be joining a team that thrives on making connections and telling stories that are important to Canadians.

Your role

The Cross-Platform Reporter Program (CRP) recruits the top graduates from university journalism and communications programs across the country, provides them with basic training (primarily in digital reporting) and hires them for a multi-week internship at Radio-Canada\xe2\x80\x99s regional stations. The CRP serves the dual purpose of giving interns real-world experience while allowing Radio-Canada to enhance its local news coverage in the short, medium and long term.

The Cross-Platform Reporter Program is a temporary position, consisting of six (6) weeks of classroom training given virtually followed by nine (9) weeks of work in one of Radio-Canada\xe2\x80\x99s regional stations across the country, from Moncton to Vancouver.

Selected interns will receive the following:

  • Classroom training (6 weeks: January 22 \xe2\x80\x93 March 1st, 2024)

  • Temporary employment (9 weeks: March 4 \xe2\x80\x93 May 3, 2024)
You will be paired with a single Radio-Canada station for the duration of the program. The six weeks of classroom training will take place at that station, as will the period of employment. You will work in partnership with a coach selected by the host station. Intern reporters will be assigned independently and consolidate their learning in a realistic work environment.

Successful candidates will have a keen interest in news and current affairs, strong initiative and creativity, but above all the desire to tell stories. They are mobile and willing to work in their assigned region. They will receive compensation during the 15-week program.
