Job Summary: Webster Farms, located in Cambridge NS is looking for a Long Cane Specialist to join our team. The individual in this position is required to monitor and maintain a high standard of quality of our covered 2-acre Long Cane Raspberry crop. We are looking for someone who is passionate about new crop development and more specifically monitoring, researching, and recording trends and output. The ideal candidate will have a background in horticultural monitoring and research. Key Responsibilities: \xc2\xb7 Grows plants to maturity, this will include fertigation, acquiring materials, advising the spray operator of appropriate pesticides and application timings \xc2\xb7 Reviews plant quality on a daily basis for possible fertility, insect, or disease issues and is able to coordinate with a team of crop specialists and scouts to make appropriate decisions \xc2\xb7 Maintains clear records in compliance with Canada GAP \xc2\xb7 Monitors and orders fertilizer and chemical inventory \xc2\xb7 Monitors climate control and watering systems, maintaining an ideal growing environment \xc2\xb7 Continuing education on new trends in the grower industry and advises management of any changes that may be required (pesticide changes, funding, etc.) Education/Work Experience: \xc2\xb7 Degree and/or diploma in horticulture from an accredited program \xc2\xb7 Current Pesticide certification (or willingness to obtain) \xc2\xb7 Good communication and organizational skills \xc2\xb7 Able to diagnose and remedy plant illnesses and diseases \xc2\xb7 Must reside locally and be eligible to work in Nova Scotia Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Salary: $17.00-$20.00 per hour Benefits:
