POSITION SUMMARY



The Crop Solutions Advisor will be primarily responsible for the sales and agronomy support of retail seed and services in Southwestern Ontario. Reporting to the President and Assistant Seed Manager, this role will create an exceptional client experience, along with the ability to successfully diagnose agronomy challenges and provide solution based recommendations relating to seed and crop inputs. The ideal candidate is motivated, reliable and will take pride in working with a team that is committed to developing long lasting client relationships.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Identify and develop new business opportunities, while strengthening existing customer relationships. Foster long term relationships and high client value through trust, service and integrity, with the goal of generating client sales through networking, regular follow-up and information calls. Build a solid understanding of local producer needs and recommend solutions to revolutionize use of agricultural products and optimize agricultural output. Provide leading edge technical and agronomic consultative support and value added recommendations for crop inputs that will differentiate the company from competitors and increase sales and profitability. Aid in supporting brand initiatives consistent with corporate business goals and objectives. Achieve sales targets while maintaining a trusted advisor status within the agricultural sector. Prepare quote estimates and other sales related documentation in a timely and accurate manner. Provide in-field support to existing clients during planting and other peak agriculture periods. Participate in required product training programs and maintain a current knowledge of all products and services. Participate in research plots and trials for new seed technology developments and capabilities. Participate in promotional and client educational events (i.e., trade shows, presentations, product training sessions, equipment demonstrations, etc.). Collaborate with Seed Production Crop Advisor to act as a liaison for contracted seed production growers. Certify that work performed is in accordance with ISO 9001 regulated safety and quality standards and other quality requirements. Complete and maintain appropriate records (i.e., sales reports). Work in compliance with all administrative and health and safety policies and procedures, as per legislative requirements and as outlined in Company policies. Report process deficiencies and any administrative or health and safety policy or procedural infractions, as per legislative requirements and as outlined in Company policies, to direct reporting manager, or other designate as applicable, for review. Assist in all departments, as required and directed. Other duties as assigned.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS



Ability to work in a quality, results driven and fast paced work environment. Take initiative to proactively pursue and seek out opportunities with existing and new clients. Must be able to accommodate scheduling flexibility and extended hours during peak agriculture periods. Be prepared and punctual for all scheduled meetings. Stay up to date and adapt to changes in the workplace as well as changes to position requirements as required to facilitate proper business flow. Ability to work cooperatively with team to execute tasks. Be positive and courteous at all times, while maintaining a professional demeanor. Be an ambassador for Devolder Farms while building brand narrative through education, consulting, brand promotion, etc. Proudly promote and support our team and clients. Complete required reports/administrative work immediately or as required throughout shift. Ability to work in outdoor work environments and various weather conditions (i.e., hot/humid and cold work elements). Intermittent physically demanding tasks (i.e., lifting, bending, twisting, climbing, reaching, and standing/sitting for long periods of time). Ability to individually lift and carry heavy objects, up to 50 lbs. Participate in compulsory training as deemed necessary for the role. -CSA steel toed construction grade safety boots in designated area(s). Valid Ontario Class G driver's license and means of daily/reliable transportation to and from our main location in Dover Centre (A, AZ or DZ license not required but considered an asset). Proof of current clean driver's abstract, maintained thereafter. Use safe and defensive driving habits, maintain and clean company vehicles.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS



Post-secondary education in an Agriculture related program or minimum of two years' experience in agriculture related field. Highly developed sales and customer service skills and experience is preferred, or an eagerness to achieve sales excellence, with the ability to execute on plans and deliver maximum revenue potential. Certified Crop Advisor designation preferred (or the willingness to obtain). Solid understanding of agronomic principles and local crop heat units. Experience in farm equipment operation and/or service and repairs are an asset. Experience with precision technology and equipment knowledge is an asset. Ability to manage priorities, execute tasks efficiently and work under pressure, while maintaining speed and accuracy to ensure daily work requirements are met. Be highly organized in all work tasks, while exercising good judgment and critical thinking. Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in English. Must be able to confidently articulate and break down complex agronomic issues to share with Devolder Farms' employees and clients using easy-to-understand language and format. Have the ability to actively listen to client concerns and offer solutions. Maintain a calm approach with all clients, aiming for client success by being a supportive and helpful coach during the on and off-farm product onboarding and training process. Proficiency with computer usage and applicable industry software programs. Demonstrated problem solving skills. Highly motivated and extreme attention to detail and accuracy. Autonomous, honest and trustworthy. Valid First Aid and CPR certification an asset.
