The Crime Analysis Section of the Edmonton Police Service requires one (1) full-time temporary Criminal Intelligence Analysts with strong tactical and strategic analytical skills for the Edmonton Police Service. The successful candidate qualities include demonstrating and applying creative and critical thought process, strong communication skills and can work independently and thoroughly as well in a collaborative team setting. The candidate should be intrinsically motivated and intellectually curious. Responsibilities in this challenging, dynamic, and rewarding professional position include:

  • Develop a variety of analytical products using; temporal and spatial analysis, phone and/or GPS analysis, association charts, timelines, predictive analysis, trend analysis, and social network analysis
  • Providing strategic analytical products.
  • Develop and applying analytical methodologies.
  • Performing advanced functions in creating intelligence through data collection, collation, analysis, and dissemination process as required.
  • Developing and preparing statistical reports and briefings and perform statistical analysis for reporting purposes
  • Presenting developed intelligence in professional and public forums.
  • Liaising with various law enforcement and correctional agencies for intelligence sharing purposes.
  • Perform analysis using a variety of complex techniques and software applications with an ability to learn new systems and ways of working.
  • Managing and maintaining various databases
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills and can work well in dynamic environments.
  • Performing offender identification related duties.
  • Excellent data management skills with an ability to create clear, well-structured and intelligence stories on complex subjects
  • Ability to work with a high degree of independent judgment using sensitive and confidential information
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • An undergraduate degree in a related field of study (ie. Social Sciences or Criminology) with a minimum of two (2) years related working experience.
  • Knowledge of analytical methods, statistics and practices.
  • Strong research capabilities.
  • Strong computer skills relevant to crime analysis (Microsoft Office, Analytical Software and GIS applications).
  • ArcGIS, iBase and/or Cognos experience will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to produce a variety of professional analytical and statistical reports and presentations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in addition to the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • As part of your pre-hire screening you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should you accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service you acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re-Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise, as required by Human Resources Division.

Hours of Work:

33.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday. The successful candidate may be required to work evenings and/or weekends to assist as required. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of variable hours of work program.

Salary Range:

Job Level
21M, Salary Grade: 029, $44.33 - $55.72 (Hourly), $2,992.90 - $3,761.50 (Bi-Weekly) $78,114.23 - $98,175.28 (Annually).
The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.

Opportunity Concept Level
21A, Salary Grade: 012, $35.29 - $42.24 (Hourly), $2,382.50 - $2,851.70 (Bi-Weekly), $62,182.73 - $74,430.41 (Annually).
The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
