Duties

----------


The Arctic Marine Response Station (AMRS) is a primary SAR asset, located in Rankin Inlet, NU. Crews operate on a rotating schedule of up to 14 consecutive days of work followed by up to 14 days of rest. We equip our AMRS Crewmembers and Coxswains with essential training and skills to help them succeed in keeping mariners safe. Other duties of this position include:



Maintain search and rescue standby on a 24/7 basis to respond to persons and boaters in
distress.

Operate fast rescue craft in response to maritime emergencies. Participate in paid training with government and other response organizations. Participate in community education and engagement sessions to increase awareness of SAR
services.

Other benefits:


If required, travel expenses to/from the location of operations or training activities to the employees residence will be reimbursed. Position-specific training will be provided prior to the start of the operational season. Meals and accommodations will be provided for all employees while on-shift and during pre-season training in 2026. Salary may include Isolated Post Allowances (Northern Allowance) which ranges from $22,000 to $36,000 per year, based on location of residence and if the employee has dependents or is occupying crown housing. The Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) Search and Rescue (SAR) program aims to save and protect lives in the maritime environment. To fulfill our mission, our objectives are to:



Minimize loss of life, injury, property damage and risk to the environment. Support and involve the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary. Maintain the highest professional standards. Provide national leadership and effective SAR Program management. Provide international SAR leadership. Maximize SAR system efficiency through innovation. Promote volunteerism. Increase awareness of the SAR Program. Assist in the development of the National SAR Program. Foster co-operative SAR agreements. Provide humanitarian aid and civil assistance where possible.

Intent of the process

This process will fill term positions from approximately early-May to November 2026 . There may be potential of permanent employment.



The employment duration is full-time shift work (14 days on, 14 days off, fully paid). Employment is conditional on the successful completion of the mandatory training prior to the operational season, and may be extended through the winter months. Training will commence in Spring of 2026. Crewing position assignments will be announced upon successful completion of pre-season training and will be based upon operational requirements

Experience in at least one of the following:




BOATING: a vessel of any size propelled on water by oars, sails, or an engine;



MARINE ACTIVITIES: activities involving a vessel in/around the water, shipping, seafaring, navigation on the water; including traditional activities such as hunting, fishing, harvesting, etc.


FIRST RESPONSE: a person with who is among the first to arrive and provide assistance, first aid or incident resolution at the scene of an emergency;


SEARCH AND RESCUE: the act of working with a team to conduct organized searches with the goal of rescuing a person(s) in distress
