As a Crew Leader, you will play a vital role in overseeing and directing a team responsible for special waste operations in Edmonton's city center. You will be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of work plans, managing resources effectively, and addressing the diverse needs of our citizens. What will you do?




Provide direction and hands-on leadership to your team in the field, ensuring the successful completion of approved work plans Train staff on the safe and proper use of equipment, conduct safety inspections, and investigate accidents to maintain a safe working environment Build and maintain positive relationships with the public, city departments, unions, and outside organizations Monitor and analyze performance data to identify areas for improvement and ensure the efficient delivery of services Plan and coordinate upcoming work, including staffing, fleet ordering, and identifying areas for improvement Troubleshoot issues, resolve conflicts, and make sound decisions to ensure the smooth operation of daily activities

Qualifications

:Two (2) year diploma in a related field or post-secondary degree Minimum of 1 year of progressive work in ESRI, ArcGIS, Quick Capture Minimum of 1 year of progressive work in Special Waste or Encampments Minimum of 1 year of Supervisory experience

First Aid Certificate Mental Health First Aid Workplace Violence and Harassment Prevention Training Incident Management for Supervisors Experience working in a unionized environment Knowledge of SAP software

Skills required for success:




Extensive knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, equipment, and other disciplines related to Special Waste Operations Extensive knowledge of bylaws, policies, departmental instructions, collective agreements, and related government legislation Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work independently or as part of a team Proficient in computer software and programs such as Google Workspace, SAP, Quick Capture, ESRI, and ArcGIS Experience in budget management and financial reporting Knowledge of environmental regulations and best practices Ability to interpret and analyze data to inform decision-making Experience in project management and coordination Ability to operate various types of equipment Strong conflict resolution and decision-making abilities Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies (https://bit.ly/4brRrXm) Embracing a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusion

Conditions of Employment:




Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs Successful candidates will be fit for a respirator, and compliance with the City of Edmonton's Code of Practice for Respiratory Protective Equipment, including medical monitoring, is a requirement of this position Compliance with the City of Edmonton's safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as wearing steel toed boots, is a requirement for this position Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position Applicants may be tested

The work environment is primarily outdoors, with exposure to various weather conditions and potential hazards.The position requires working with a diverse team and interacting with the public
