We are currently hiring for a Crew Leader to join our CPD team at 600 Clarke Road, London. This position is on our Night C Shift (Monday-Friday, 10:40pm-7:00am, work week starts at 10:40pm on Sunday).

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

As leader of the shift team, the Crew Leader sets the example of team leadership within the McCormick High Performance System (MHPS) environment. The Crew Leader ensures overall performance of team of 3-4 lines which includes but is not limited to safety, quality, process reliability, sanitation, GMP\xe2\x80\x99s, and material yield. This position pro-actively encourages continuous improvement and daily problem solving initiatives to increase operational effectiveness and efficiencies.

The incumbent must be able to effectively coach, train, and verify 100% compliance to plant established procedures (including safety, work rules, and sanitation guidelines) while demonstrating a deep respect for the capabilities of all people, while following the McCormick Shared Values. Must be able to structure their approach based on the core belief that the success of the company depends upon the capabilities and contributions of all people in the organization.
  • Leads by example, ensuring Health and Safety as well as Human Resources policy adherence
  • Utilizes the McCormick High Performance System (MHPS) to engage each member of the team and promote teamwork
  • Plans, directs and supports the daily activities of team members to achieve daily, weekly and monthly goals and business initiatives. Ensures employees are trained to perform tasks given to them by Crew Leader \xe2\x80\x93 Legal responsibility under Bill C45
  • Leads Tier 1 HPO activities; leverages the accountabilities to guarantee a safe, clean, organized and defect-free environment at all time
  • Removes barriers and obstacles to team performance. Demonstrates a sense of urgency, ownership and tenacity to resolve problems. 95% of work to be performed on production lines, which includes running the line for majority of shift.
  • Facilitates daily team huddles and weekly team meetings. Communicates daily with the Team Manager to ensure daily oversight of team and line performance is effectively executed. May fill in duties of Team Manager such as attending meetings when the Team Manager is not available.
  • Responsible to ensure key performance indicators are met (M/L, C/O targets, PR, TIR)
  • Ensures operational procedures (SOPs), baselines (CBAs) and best practices (OPLs) are consistently followed and standardized
  • Resolves daily issues and minor mechanical problems and coordinates the need for non-routine adjustments and repairs through the maintenance team member
  • Provides input to evaluations and development/training plans for individuals within the team and effectively handles team interaction, including conflict management
  • Contacts HR immediately when an employee is injured and fills out accident/incident report in absence of Team Manager or Supervisor
  • Responsible for on the job training of new and existing employees. Builds technical and business competencies within team.
  • Interacts cross functionally with other areas to share resources and support total plant objectives (including but not limited to, Material Management, QA, HR, product to packaging development, facilities maintenance, engineering, etc.)
  • Leads and/or facilitates continuous improvements initiatives, including PDCA and root cause analysis
  • Occasionally completes administrative work, i.e. reports when Team Manager or Supervisor is unavailable
  • May complete other occasional duties as assigned
  • Ability to work overtime (pre or post shift and weekends).
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Three years manufacturing/industrial experience or equivalent education
  • Strong mechanical ability and understanding of packaging/processing equipment is preferred
  • Successfully pass Mechanical Aptitude testing
  • Must have a valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Engineering or related field would be considered an asset
  • Ability to understand financial impact of business decisions affecting staffing, product components, inventory, etc.
  • Demonstrated practice of leadership principles required with formal leadership training an asset Demonstrated analytical/critical thinking skills to determine risk assessment
  • Knowledge of packaging/processing equipment, understands the importance of PM, AM, and TPM processes
  • Knowledge of SAP or other enterprise resource planning tool
  • Demonstrated ability to operate all equipment in the business i.e. Forklift
