Midwest Co-op is currently accepting resumes for the position of CREDIT SPECIALIST located at our Head Office located in Teeswater. Under direction of the Accounting Manager, the Credit Specialist is responsible for upholding the credit policies of the company. Responsible for customer reconciliations and collection of any outstanding balances. SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP

  • Provide leadership to management, sales, branch, and other admin staff for the management of accounts receivable and ongoing collection efforts.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Reviews all customer accounts.
  • Receives and investigates all submitted customer credit applications.
  • Maintains the customer master file in the computer system.
  • Maintains the FCC financing accounts.
  • Actively pursues collection of delinquent accounts.
  • Prepares reports for review by management and board of director\xe2\x80\x99s credit committee.
  • Attends management and credit risk meetings.
  • Handles customer account queries and takes necessary action to satisfy the customer.
  • Works with the Accounts Receivable clerk in all aspects of customer accounts and credit authority.
  • Ensures all month-end procedures are completed including statements and letters for overdue accounts.
  • Advises the Accounting Manager of any irregularities of money and problematic situations with accounts.
  • Accurately processes invoices, especially received on accounts for online payments.
  • Answers incoming telephone calls and directs calls to proper staff.
  • Filing, photocopying and general office procedures.
  • Understands and follows all Corporate, Legislative and Health & Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintains proper personal image and care of company assets.
  • Working as part of the MCS team, ensures that company objectives, customer service levels, employee relations and inter- branch relations are improved and promoted.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Three to five years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in accounting/credit management and sufficient course work to provide level of accounting expertise needed to perform complex accounting reconciliations
  • Demonstrated communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with internal and external contacts.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to work under time pressure and meet deadlines during the daily, weekly, monthly, and annual account close cycles.
  • Ability to operate computers with a working knowledge of word-processing and spreadsheet programs.
  • Ability to work without close supervision and be proactive in providing supplier and inventory support regarding related accounting activities.
  • According to the needs of individuals, businesses, and key contacts, some infrequent traveling to the branches and use of personal vehicle may be required.
