We currently have an opportunity for a

Credit Adjudicator

to join our team in Steinbach. The Credit Adjudicator seeks to analyze credit applications/submissions, identify and evaluate the degree of risk associated with extending credit to members, determine the appropriate response to mitigate risk, and make recommendations that promote sound business growth and protection of SCU's lending portfolio.


Specific Responsibilities




Assess credit worthiness of Consumer/corporate lending requests that exceed branch discretionary limits through the analysis of data including, but not limited to financial statements, security, supporting documentation, and SCU system-generated reports Adjudicate credit applications/submissions within approved lending authority, ensuring consistent application of SCU lending policy and following-up with Consumer and/or Corporate Lending staff as required Prepare credit assessments and make approval decisions when credit applications/submissions are within lending authority or submit recommendations to relevant credit committee when credit applications/submissions exceed lending authority Address policy violations and/or non-compliance to approval terms and conditions by formulating recommendations to mitigate loss potential Maintain thorough knowledge of and adhere to credit union policies/procedures and all other legislative requirements in the areas of lending, risk management, security and fraud prevention Apply best practices and identify areas for improvement Provide prompt and accurate communication of adjudication decisions to Consumer and Corporate Lending staff Conduct credit risk assessments, adhering to service standards as set forth by SCU Submit credit assessments and recommendations to relevant credit committee, presenting additional information to committee(s) as required either verbally or in writing Respond to staff inquiries related to loan policy/best practices and resolve questions and concerns wherever possible, referring more complex issues to the Director, Risk Management

Qualifications




Grade 12 diploma plus two years of formal business-related education or equivalent 4 to 6 years of job related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Advanced knowledge of financial accounting principles Advanced knowledge of lending policies and regulatory environments Advanced knowledge of Risk Management principles Work experience in a lending department, and/or risk analysis department Financial analysis skills (with work experience) Credit analysis skills (with work experience) Business acumen Software proficiency Strong negotiation and coaching skills
