U. S. Steel is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace culture and celebrate the diversity of our employees. This is an industrial maintenance position responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting a wide range of equipment throughout the Big River Steel Facility.

Duties and Responsibilities: * Ensure safety, environmental, and quality requirements are followed and a priority.

  • Ensure good housekeeping practices are carried out in the job areas and grounds.
  • Troubleshoot, perform preventative maintenance, and repair complex mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Install and/or modify mechanical and electrical equipment following proper codes, manuals, schematic diagrams, and other specifications.
  • Assist operational personnel as needed for operational tasks that are needed to successfully support production.
  • Assist maintenance teams in need, in other departments across the mill when circumstances arise.
Qualifications: * Ability to maintain and troubleshoot VFD motor control systems.
  • Basic PLC programming experience.
  • Ability to use mechanical ingenuity and make decisions in a fast paced production environment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Adaptability to accept changes in job duties and eagerness to learn and apply new knowledge.
  • Reliable team player with good communication skills.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, and willing to put in extra hours when needed.
  • Experienced with mobile equipment.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
This position works in the Construction Department and associated areas throughout the facility, which are routinely extreme environments with typical hours during the day but this position, can result I working weekends, holidays and at night to support BRS goals. Ability to work long hours as well as coming in on short notice.

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not supervise others normally but may oversee contractors and Jr. Personal.
