The mining engineering candidate will assist mining engineers in their tasks and responsibilities. Based at the Windfall site, located in the Nord-du-Quebec region, they will be required to work a 15-day work schedule followed by 13 days off. Transportation, accommodation, and meals are provided.

Duties and responsibilities

Assist mining engineers in their tasks and responsibilities; Participate in various engineering projects, including ramp development, ground control, ventilation, permanent infrastructure, and dewatering to enhance the Windfall project; Support mining engineers in writing daily progress reports as well as monthly reports and associated variances; Actively participate in various organizational meetings; Report any situation that may affect work to your immediate supervisor and submit recommendations for corrective measures; Act as a leader in safety, environment, and community relations to help achieve the highest standards; Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety and accident prevention standards and implement corrective measures; Ensure compliance with applicable environmental, health and safety, and other laws and regulations; Perform any other tasks related to the position of candidate for the profession of mining engineer that are relevant to the success of the project. Also, assist the engineer in the design and modeling of the primary and secondary ventilation network, and assess ventilation needs to support operations. Ensure that ventilation readings are taken on a weekly basis. Participate in the design and approval of ventilation-related specifications and standards. Research and participate in the continuous improvement of the ventilation network to enhance its performance and reduce costs. Participate in the selection and ordering of fans and ventilation-related accessories. Ensure that deadlines are met. If necessary, perform underground surveying and drafting. Perform any other tasks related to the mining CPI (ventilation) position that are relevant to the success of the project.

Qualifications

Be a member of the Ordre des ingenieurs du Quebec (OIQ) as a candidate for the engineering profession. Experience in the mining industry (an asset); Valid Class 5 driver's license; Valid explosives license; Mining modules (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7) (an asset).

Technical skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Knowledge of specialized software such as AutoCAD (Pro-Mine), Ventsim, Rocscience, Deswik, and Mine 2-4D (an asset); Good knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to mining exploration and exploitation sites.

Basic skills

Demonstrate rigor in occupational health and safety; Have excellent command of French and good knowledge of English; Be an excellent team player and demonstrate tact; Be flexible and open to change and constructive feedback; Have good organizational skills and the ability to recognize priorities; Be independent, show initiative, and be able to handle several files simultaneously; Be thorough and demonstrate ethics and integrity.
