Course Description:
EDES 453 Teaching Secondary Mathematics 2
This course supplements EDES 353 for students who select Mathematics as a single teachable subject. Evaluation of learning in Mathematics, obstacles to learning, technological aids to learning.

Teaching Qualification Requirements:
Education:MA in a relevant field (i.e., mathematics education) and/or extensive relevant experience as a school educator/teacher/pedagogue/community educator PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an asset

Experience:
1.Expert knowledge of:Secondary mathematics pedagogy, as outlined in the course description Mathematics content and practices related to secondary mathematics curricula Research on secondary mathematics pedagogy Research on secondary students' mathematical thinking and practice

2.Experience as a master teacher/instructor in mathematics, science, or a related field in the Quebec educational system
3.Knowledge of Quebec Education Program (QEP)
4.Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified by the Ministere de l'Education
Other:Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate level Knowledge of the impact and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity, and inclusion Familiarity using myCourses, ZOOM and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning tools Familiarity of and/or experience with practice-based pedagogies in mathematics teacher education is an asset.

Requirements include:Commitment to working with a team of committed and engaged instructors Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of course start date
