Course Description: Elementary Education: Science as a means of exploring and explaining our environment. A study of some of the fundamental concepts and process skills common to most elementary programs.

Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs):
EducationA Master's degree (in exceptional circumstances applicants without a Master's degree but with significant research or professional experience related to the course content may be considered)
ExperienceExpert knowledge of course content as outlined in the course description
Knowledge of the Quebec Education program (QEP) and the curriculum of the partnering school board with whom this course is being giving in collaboration.
Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified in the Ministere de l'Education
Knowledge of the impact of colonialism on Indigenous communities and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion.
Experience as a teacher, administrator, or consultant in the partnering school system for which this course is being delivered.
Experience teaching in the Quebec elementary school system
Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) to pre-service teachers.
Previous successful experience teaching similar courses in Indigenous communities.
Experience developing curriculum, instructional approaches and/or policy grounded in Indigenous knowledge and pedagogies.
Commitment to working with a team of committed and engaged instructors
OtherIf the applicant has taught this course exactly once previously, she/he must have had satisfactory teaching evaluations in this course that meet the Department's expectations. This requirement does not apply to applicants who have taught the course at least twice.
If the applicant has not taught this course previously, but has taught in the hiring unit previously, she/he must have had satisfactory teaching evaluations that meet the Department's expectations.
Adherence to evolving program requirements concerning course content and program-developed competencies; course content and references must reflect the most current advances in the field.
This course must be modified to the educational, social, and cultural context of the community in which it is being delivered.
Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of the course start date.
Preferred candidate will have demonstrated cultural awareness of and sensitivity to Indigenous issues in First Nations and Inuit contexts and connection to First Nations and Inuit communities.
