This is a hands-on counter position: you won't just enter orders, you'll also help pull and stage customer orders in the yard. That means you'll split your time between customer service, order entry, and physically preparing pickup orders so they go out accurately and on time

What success looks like

Contractors call in, walk in, or email an order and you handle it smoothly. Quotes and orders are accurate (items, quantities, pricing, pickup/delivery details). Yard pulls are correct and complete. You communicate early when information is missing or stock is uncertain (i.e. no surprises). Customers ask for you by name because you're responsive, helpful, and reliable.

Key responsibilities

Serve customers

at the counter, by phone, and email - contractors, builders, and homeowners.

Pull customer orders for pickup

(lumber, sheet goods, hardware, etc.).

Recommend the right products

(materials, quantities, smart substitutions) and suggest value-adds.

Work with the team to coordinate logistics

- special orders, deliveries, pickups, and staging.

Solve problems fast

--shortages, backorders, damaged material, site issues.

Keep details tight

--organized notes, clear communication, follow-through.

Qualifications

Experience in customer-facing sales or service (construction/building materials experience is a bonus, not a requirement) Strong communicator--clear, friendly, and good at asking the right questions Ability to multitask - able to start and stop tasks on a dime and stay on track Detail-oriented--you catch the small stuff (quantities, specs, delivery instructions) Eager to learn product knowledge and build expertise over time Comfortable with basics: email, order entry systems, phones
