& Requirements

We are seeking a qualified Guidance Counsellor who must possess:

A Manitoba Teacher's Certificate, or eligibility for teacher certification in the Province of Manitoba. Guidance Counselling coursework and practicum, working towards obtaining a Master's of Education Degree in Guidance and Counselling within a three-year period. Five years successful teaching experience. A strong academic background with thorough knowledge of school programs in a range of grade levels and the ability to access community resources. Experience in working collaboratively with staff and support agencies to address the needs of students individually, in groups, and in the classroom. Demonstrated ability and experience in the differentiation of instruction to meet the needs of all learners.

Preference will be given to candidates who possess:

Training in areas such as Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Threat Assessment, Suicide Prevention, Solution Focused counselling, and motivating reluctant learners, and demonstrated ability to assist with the creation of a safe and healthy environment for students. Experience in the philosophy of a multi-age classroom as it relates to curriculum planning and implementation, instructional diversity, and classroom learning environment. Position
