Job Description

Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) is one of the largest school divisions in Alberta, serving the education needs of approximately 17,750 students in 42 schools. EIPS is recruiting a part-time (0.426 FTE) School Counsellor at Bruderheim School for two days per week, the schedule is flexible.

There is no teaching assignment connected to this assignment.

The assignment includes:



group work with kids, planning school-wide activities, working with teachers, and involvement in all aspects of the school.

serving as the Lead Mental Health teacher and plan/lead this work.

oversight of all referrals, ISP's, BSP's, and inclusive education programming for K-6 students.



Bruderheim School serves approximately 110 students in kindergarten to Grade 6, with eight teaching staff and nine support staff. The school is located in Bruderheim, AB, approximately 48 kilometres north of Sherwood Park, AB.

A master's degree in counselling and registered or provisional psychologist status is preferred. Consideration will be given to applicants presently working on a master's in this area. A minimum of five years of teaching experience, education in psychology or a related discipline with a focus on counselling, and Violent Threat Risk Assessment Training (VTRA) would be considered an asset.


Qualifications:




Bachelor of Education degree Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate Effective organization and classroom management skills Ability to create a classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and challenged Excellent verbal and written skills Experience or familiarity with analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and/or instruction Strong collaboration and teamwork skills Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to improve practice Relentless drive to set and achieve personal and professional goals Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training
