Key Responsibilities

Develop detailed

should-cost models

for machining, fabrication, casting, forging, sheet metal, electrical components, and assemblies. Evaluate

supplier quotations

and validate cost accuracy using process-based costing. Partner with

Engineering, SQE, and Supply Chain

to understand technical specifications and manufacturability. Analyze

manufacturing operations

(cycle time, material usage, overheads, labor, machine rates). Identify

cost drivers

and recommend productivity, VA/VE, or design-for-manufacturing (DFM) improvements. Support RFQ processes by benchmarking quotations with global cost data. Collaborate with suppliers to understand capabilities and validate assumptions. Present cost findings to leadership and support negotiations with data-backed insights. Maintain and update

costing databases, tools, templates, and parametric models

. Ensure compliance with Customer sourcing standards, quality processes, and engineering drawings.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in

Mechanical / Industrial / Manufacturing Engineering

or related discipline. 5+ years' experience in

should-costing, cost engineering, supplier development, or manufacturing engineering

. Strong understanding of machining, fabrication, casting, forging, and assembly processes. Experience in RFQ evaluation and supplier cost breakdown analysis. Proficiency in CAD models, engineering drawings (GD&T), and BOM analysis. Strong Excel and costing tool skills (parametric costing, cost modeling). Ability to work with cross-functional teams across Canada, US, and global sites.
