The Cost Analyst plays a crucial role in the organization by analyzing financial data, providing insights, and making recommendations to support strategic financial decision-making. This role involves performing financial forecasting, budgeting, cost analysis, and other financial tasks to ensure the organization's financial health and growth.

Position Qualifications:
Education & Knowledge
University degree or College Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field
Professional Accounting Designation - Asset
Skills
Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills
Demonstrated proficiency with computer programs such as MS Office
Familiarity with financial software and databases
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Self-starter - a highly motivated and proactive individual who takes initiative, works effectively without constant supervision, and begins projects or tasks independently
Proficiency in financial modelling, forecasting, and budgeting techniques
Able to read blueprints and parts lists - Asset
Experience
Minimum 3 - 5 years experience with an emphasis on costing, budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling in the manufacturing sector
Communication
Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and time management skills
Proven ability to communicate effectively through various means with internal and external customers
Responsibilities:
Prepare monthly operational reports and commentary analysis, providing value-added recommendations to drive continuous improvement in the operations. Includes flex budget preparation, inventory reconciliations, calculation of inventory reserves and revaluations, and variance analysis.
Support the development of forecasts and budgets (operating, capital and cash flow), with updates to the forecast on a quarterly basis.
Analyze and recommend changes to the annual standard data information in the financial and quoting systems, including material, labour and overhead rates. Includes the final review and verification that overheads are fully absorbed into standard costs.
Analyze and recommend changes to updating the steady-state financial models and rates that will be incorporated into the quoting templates and software.
Perform cost walks (analysis of actual to expected margin) on completed projects and newly released product offerings.
Communicate required financial information to operations (QOS, KPI, inventory values, etc) and assist in completing Finance scorecard file
Work with the Product Development team to determine cost impacts on new or revised product offerings.
Assist the Estimating department with day-to-day support when volumes dictate
Liaise with others in the organization to share information, resolve problems and provide support
Support the Britespan team and participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives.
Comply with company policies and procedures.
