Decibel is looking for a Cost Accounting Technician working out of the manufacturing facility ("the Plant"). This critical Cost Accountant technician role will (work closely with the Plant Accountant to ensure maintaining adequate internal controls, while timely and properly costing and closing of work orders, accurately reporting on inventory, updating BoM's, and creating new products and investigating operational variances, when needed.

Key responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
Vendor & Inventory Processing
+ Process inventory-related vendor invoices daily, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely posting.
+ Perform monthly vendor Statement of Account (SOA) reviews and aging analysis to validate outstanding balances and resolve discrepancies.
+ Support monthly Inventory Accounts Payable close, including intercompany entries and reconciliation of related accounts.
+ Monitoring of received not in inventory aging schedule monthly and preparation of necessary adjustments.
+ Management of inventory suspense accounts monthly by investigating and resolving unmatched entries.
Cost Accounting & Work Order Management
+ Perform daily costing and closing of work orders, ensuring proper capture of material, labor, and overhead costs.
+ Complete monthly Work in Progress analysis and prepare supporting documentation.
+ Conduct & presenting bi-weekly reviews of standard cost variances.
+ Prepare monthly Standard Cost Variance summary reports for management review.
Inventory Reconciliation & Month-End Close
+ Perform monthly inventory subledger review and reconciliation to the general ledger.
+ Support month-end costing close including accruals, costing adjustments, and reconciliation of in-transit inventory.
Compliance, Reporting & Audit Support
+ Assist with internal and external audit inquiries by preparing schedules, gathering documentation, and explaining relevant processes.
+ Support monthly Excise Duty compliance reporting and annual cannabis revenue reporting.
Other Duties
+ Maintenance and assessment of internal controls & process flows as required.
+ Other projects and tasks as assigned by your leader.
Key Competencies:
Technical Competencies
+ Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, standard costing, and inventory valuation.
+ Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAGE or equivalent), including inventory subledgers and AP modules.
+ Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis & data modeling).
+ Strong analytical ability to identify, investigate, and explain cost variances.
+ Solid knowledge of full cycle month-end close processes, reconciliations, and accruals.
Behavioral Competencies
+ High attention to detail and accuracy.
+ Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
+ Problem-solving mindset and willingness to investigate discrepancies.
+ Effective communication skills for interacting with operations, supply chain, vendors, and auditors.

+ Able to multi-task efficiently and perform under tight deadlines.
Qualifications:
+ 3-5 years of experience in cost accounting, manufacturing accounting, or inventory accounting.
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
+ Professional accounting designation (CPA) or progress toward designation is an asset.
+ Experience with financial reporting in accordance with IFRS framework is an asset.
+ Experience in production/manufacturing environments is strongly preferred.
+ Familiarity with cannabis industry regulatory reporting is an asset but not required.
+ Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office products (i.e. MS Word, MS Excel, and Outlook).
+ Sage X3 or similar ERP system knowledge.
