Cost Accountant
The Cost Accountant plays a key role in helping our leadership team make informed business decisions. Working closely with the Program Manager, Compliance & Financial Projects, this role provides clear, accurate insights into inventory, costing, and margins that drive profitability and operational success.
Responsibilities

Oversee product costing and inventory accuracy, ensuring reliable financial data that supports strong business decisions.
Collaborate with Engineering, IT, and Production teams to improve costing processes, data collection, and overall efficiency.
Analyze material and labour transactions, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions to maintain accurate inventory values.
Prepare and reconcile regular margin reports to help leadership make informed decisions on pricing, product development, and marketing.
Lead inventory count processes. This includes cycle counts and annual physical counts. They will ensure accuracy, accountability, and timely completion across all sites.
Train and support production teams in inventory procedures, fostering accuracy and continuous improvement.
Identify obsolete inventory and finalize year-end inventory balances for accurate financial reporting.
Contribute to special projects and initiatives that enhance costing systems, reporting, and operational performance.
Manage inventory classifications and provide procedural guidance to employees creating items.
Demonstrate the accountabilities under Vidir's Risk Management System and Continuous Improvement Programs and lead by example.
Qualifications
Diploma or Certificate in Business Administration or a related field.
Enrollment in and nearing completion of the CPA Program is an asset.
At least three (3) years' experience in a financial or cost accounting role.
Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Experience working with accounting or ERP software.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Ability to interpret and analyze financial data to support operational decision-making.
Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify process efficiencies.
