Correctional Facility Healthcare Unit Security Guard

Paladin Security is seeking experienced Security Officers to join our healthcare team, while providing service within a Lower Mainland Correctional facility. Within this very unique role, your number one priority is the protection of clinical staff when working with in-custody clients who are in need of care. A high degree of professionalism, compassion and discretion is required for this role.


Extensive training will be provided to successful candidates, which may include but is not limited to: Trauma-Informed Practice, Provincial Violence Prevention Curriculum, Advanced Team Response, Use of Force, Basic First Aid, and more. Additionally, regular training exercises and drills will be conducted on an ongoing basis. Preference will be given to candidates who meet the requirements of the role and already possess the certification listed above.



Please note this is a

temporary pilot project

that has the potential to be extended.



Our team will be working

12-hour shifts

on a set rotation (for example, 2000hrs-0800hrs; Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and every second Saturday), with a pay rate of

$34.00/hour

for full-timers.



Responsibilities:



Effectively communicate with patient care teams, Correctional Officers, and other stakeholders Respond to all calls for service from clinical staff when entering client space, to allow them to provide medical care Execute skills and techniques when entering client space to ensure the safety of all involved Proactively diffuse potentially violent situations using verbal de-escalation techniques Execute physical responses using team techniques, working in conjunction with other Security Officers and clinical staff Write detailed daily reports and incident reports Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information, documents, and facility information Other duties as required to meet operational needs

Requirements:



Minimum of three years of work experience in security, law enforcement, or a related position; additional experience working within a healthcare environment is preferred

Valid BC Security License (including valid Advanced Security Training is preferred) Ability to pass a criminal record check, including but not limited to vulnerable sector search, and enhanced background check through the RCMP and BC Corrections High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary education in law enforcement would be considered an asset Excellent English communication skills, both verbally and in writing Strong problem solving, prioritization, and decision-making skills Ability to handle dynamic high stress situations calmly and professionally Confidence approaching and leading in emergency situations, including trauma, aggression, bodily fluids, etc. Physical ability to complete the duties of the role, including restraining and controlling patients as needed * Excellent attention to detail and compliance with structured protocols within a highly regulated environment
