Responsibilities




Core Duties:




A working knowledge of Corporate Insolvency is an asset. Assist with preparing and filing of statutory documentation associated with BIA, CCAA, Wind-Up Acts, Business Corporation Acts, etc. Work with banking partners to open new accounts, reconcile monthly statements, prepare cheque requisitions, freeze accounts, including data entry using Ascend Software, manage approvals, prepare wire payments, cheques and manage bank deposits at the branch. Process and track payments to creditors, employees, and other stakeholders as required under insolvency proceedings. Facilitate the closure of bank accounts upon completion of insolvency mandates, ensuring all outstanding transactions are resolved. Support the handling and reporting of trust accounts in accordance with applicable regulations. Assist in various close-out matters when needed Assist in preparing statements of receipts and disbursements, analyze variances between actual financial results and cash flow projections, and draft interim Receiver's reports in compliance with the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act. Support other reporting functions as required, ensuring accuracy and adherence to statutory requirements. Monitor and track financial obligations and payables throughout the administration of insolvency engagements, ensuring all liabilities are accurately recorded and addressed in a timely manner. This includes maintaining up-to-date records of outstanding payments and coordinating with relevant parties to facilitate resolution of financial commitments. Create, maintain and update spreadsheets incl. tracking deliverables, closings etc. for multiple files. Compile PDF documents for court submissions and submit documents via online portals. Support the compiling and/or preparation of schedules and other documentation associated with engagements.

Additional Administrative Duties




Format, edit and assist in the creation of client correspondence, presentations, proposals, reports and spreadsheets. Uphold electronic and paper filing systems, manage incoming mail and off-site storage of client assets. Enter new clients and engagements in firm systems. Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes including the use of AI tools within company standards and proactively seek opportunities to improve efficiency.

Skills and Experience




Completion of related post-secondary education in administration is an asset. Previous experience working in a partnership or professional services firm is an asset. Attention to detail Excellent communication skills and ability to report on progress, communicate needs and work collaboratively with other team members and leadership. Must be able to "manage up" and keep Partners and staff accountable to commitments, statutory deadlines. Strong client service focus in dealing with both external and internal clients, displaying an image of professionalism, discretion, integrity and tact. Excellent judgement and strong problem-solving skills, including a proactive approach to working with staff and clients at all levels while demonstrating flexibility. Confidence in ability to learn and work in a highly technical and ever-changing work environment. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively. Maintain flexibility to hours worked to support timely completion of deliverables.
