Position summary:
The Corporate Development Lead plays a key role in advancing the organization's long-term strategic objectives through the identification, evaluation, and execution of strategic partnerships and initiatives. Reporting to the Chief Corporate Development Officer, this role leads end-to-end partnership development--from opportunity assessment and business case development to cross-functional implementation and performance measurement.
This opportunity is open to experienced Manager- or Director-level candidates. The scope, decision authority, and leadership accountability will be calibrated based on the successful candidate's experience, depth of expertise, and demonstrated leadership capability.
Key responsibilities:
Lead Strategic Partnership Development
Lead the end-to-end assessment and execution of strategic partnerships and collaboration opportunities.
Manage structured, multi-phase evaluations of vendor proposals and initiatives, with a focus on long-term value creation, member benefit, innovation, and revenue diversification.
Develop and present business cases, including financial modeling, budgeting, and risk analysis, to support executive and Board-level decision-making (as applicable to level).
Translate approved opportunities into clear project and/or program plans with defined timelines, budgets, resources, and outcomes.
Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration and Integration
Partner with internal teams to assess feasibility, define requirements, and coordinate implementation of new partnerships or initiatives.
Lead integration planning across business units--including Communications, Education, IT, and Member Operations--to ensure seamless rollout and effective adoption.
Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships, exercising sound judgment, discretion, and diplomacy in sensitive or high-stakes situations.
Provide clear, timely, and accessible communication to stakeholders, synthesizing complex strategic and technical information.
Establish Performance Measurement and Strategic Insights
Design and maintain KPIs, tracking frameworks, and reporting mechanisms to measure partnership success, operational performance, and member engagement.
Provide regular reporting and insights to senior leadership, capturing learnings and recommendations to inform future initiatives and strategic planning.
Identify Emerging Opportunities and Industry Trends
Conduct research to identify emerging opportunities aligned with the organization's data, expertise, and industry influence.
Monitor industry trends, innovation developments, and competitive or environmental shifts to inform strategic direction
Qualifications, skills, and experience:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field (e.g., Commerce, Data Analytics, Public Policy).
5-8+ years of experience in corporate development, strategic partnerships, business development, or management consulting.
Proven success leading complex, cross-functional, multi-stakeholder initiatives in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree (MBA, master's in finance, Public Policy, or Data Analytics).
Experience in one or more of the following areas is an asset: M&A, real estate, financial services, private equity, technology product evaluation, or data analytics.
Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into operational outcomes with measurable results.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
