As we transition into a standalone organization with a modernized finance function, we are building a forward-thinking accounting team that supports growth, transformation, and operational excellence across 40+ locations and our e-commerce channel.
Position Overview
The Corporate Controller will lead all aspects of financial reporting, period-end close, cash management, and internal controls for Wellwise. This role is critical in establishing a scalable finance environment as the company completes its ERP implementation and evolves into a standalone organization. The ideal candidate is hands-on, systems-savvy, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Working closely with, and reporting to, CFO the Corporate Controller is responsible for the day-to-day operation and management of the Finance function, including providing leadership to a Finance team and working with FP&A team.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Period Close
Lead all monthly and period-end closing activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements aligned with ASPE/IFRS
Prepare, review, and analyze P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements with variance analysis for management
Maintain the chart of accounts, consolidation structure, and account reconciliations
Systems & Process Improvement
Oversee general ledger integrity within
Microsoft Business Central
(experience preferred)
Support ongoing ERP enhancements, integrations, and standardization of processes across stores and corporate departments
Drive automation and efficiency in AP, AR, inventory accounting, and bank reconciliations
Cash & Working Capital Management
Monitor cash flow, DSO/DPO, inventory posting, and bank transactions
Collaborate with operations and supply chain to support inventory controls and shrink analysis
Audit, Tax & Compliance
Manage external reviews, reviews/audits, and corporate filings
Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting policies, and audit readiness
Partner with CFO on tax compliance, commodity taxes, and year-end requirements
Team Leadership
Supervise accounting staff, providing coaching, training, and performance development
Establish accountability for accurate period close, reconciliations, and schedules
Qualifications
Postsecondary degree in Accounting or Business (or equivalent knowledge & learning capability from other disciplines and work experience).
CPA designation with a minimum of 10 years related accounting experience, including management responsibilities. (CPA, CA, CGA, or CMA)
Sound knowledge of ASPE and IFRS, financial statement preparation and accounting systems. Experience managing a financial statement audit.
Extensive experience in management reporting - must be able to interpret requirements and develop reports & information for adhoc requests.
Advanced Excel and ability to structure data, reconciliations, and schedules
ERP/Accounting software implementation skills are an asset.
Experience with Microsoft Business Central
or similar mid-market ERP strongly preferred
Able to manage, develop and motivate staff in a friendly and professional manner.
High attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to work efficiently in a dynamic, changing environment
Client service oriented.
Strong presentation, writing, teaching, coaching and interpersonal skills.
