KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Manager, Economic Opportunities and Investment, the incumbent is responsible for leading the strategic planning, implementation, and operation of the City's communications needs. Through regular directions from the Manager, the incumbent assists with the implementation of policies, strategies, and campaigns to ensure the communication objectives of the City are met.
QUALIFICATIONS
A university degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field along with a minimum of three (3) years related experience, which should include community engagement within a government or dynamic corporate environment.
The position requires a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain co-operative and constructive relationships with individuals at all levels of organizations, members of Council (when requested by the Manager) and representatives of external organizations. Key skills for this position will include excellent written and oral communications skills, strong graphic design and interpersonal skills are a must. You must be able to work under pressure and manage projects with tight deadlines.
SALARY
The City of Yellowknife offers a starting salary of $96,641.50 per annum, along with a comprehensive benefits package including monthly housing and vacation travel allowances, and a defined benefit pension plan.
