The Opportunity: We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for a Corporate Actions Tax Specialist to join our Operations team.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Corporate Actions, the Corporate Actions Tax Specialist is responsible for daily processing and reconciling of all corporate actions within Aviso. The position liaises with various departments internally and externally daily and is considered a subject matter expert. The Corporate Actions Tax Specialist also provides backup to the Supervisor, Corporate Actions by coaching and mentoring to the team and assisting with various department projects.

What your day looks like:
  • Monitor and provide oversight on all corporate action, entitlement and GIC payment instructions ensuring accurate and timely set up of payments and assess the reconciliation of all payments
  • Research and investigate certain income and corporate action reorganization events for tax reporting purpose
  • Coordinate the review, and distribution all Canadian and US mandatory and voluntary bulletins
  • Ensure that the policy and procedures within the department are understood and followed daily basis
  • Act as back-up for the Supervisor and all corporate actions administration positions
  • Understand Aviso\xe2\x80\x99s clients and business to ensure holistic resolution and seamless processing integration
  • Offer written suggestions for process and procedural improvements to the Supervisor
  • Subject matter expert for internal and external parties
  • Provides training/mentoring to new and existing team members
  • Escalate issues that may result of an error that could be a dilution or risk to the firm
  • Assist in monthly box count reconciliations
  • Provide excellent customer service to external and internal clients
  • Ensures internal manuals are current and updated regularly in adherence with internal controls, regulatory requirements and system/procedure changes
  • Communicate with peers and supervisor of any issues/changes that arise on daily activity to ensure all parties are kept up to date on such issues/changes
Requirements

Your experience and skills:
  • University degree is ideal
  • 3 years of related work experience in Corporate Actions and Taxation
  • 1+ years of IRROC dealer experience
  • Completion of CSC is an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to analyze discrepancies and provide solutions
  • Ability to work independently and apply knowledge with limited guidance
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet required deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task and manage fluctuating workloads
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent communication skills in English are required and bilingual skills in French are an asset
